Governmental Criminal Cases Review Commission The Criminal Cases Review Commission is the independent public body set up to investigate possible miscarriages of justice in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. The Commission assesses whether convictions or sentences should be referred to a court of appeal. Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority The CICA is responsible for administering the Criminal Injuries Compensation Scheme throughout England, Scotland and Wales. They pay compensation to eligible applicants who have been the victim of a violent crime.
The Scheme was introduced in 1964 where awards were set according to what the victim would have received in a successful civil action against the offender. Criminal Injuries Compensation Review Panel The purpose of the Criminal Injuries Compensation Appeals Panel (CICAP) is to decide appeals relating to decisions made by the Criminal Injuries Compensation Authority (CICA). Crown Prosecution Service The Crown Prosecution Service is responsible for prosecuting criminal cases investigated by the police in England and Wales. Forensic Science Service Legal User Groups TeCSA The Technology and Construction Solicitors' Association ("TeCSA") was established in 1990 to promote the interests of solicitors and their clients involved in litigation in the Technology and Construction Court, which involves construction, engineering, technology and IT disputes. TeCSA currently has over 250 members. Mediation Association of Northern Mediators This exists to promote the use of mediation to resolve civil and commercial disputes throughout the North of England. It provides, at no cost, lists of Mediators divided up into local groupings. Mediators are chosen by the parties, not the Association. There are no appointment fees and an advice line gives impartial information on how mediation works. Civil Mediation Council The United Kingdom's Civil Mediation Council (CMC) was established in 2003 under the Chairmanship of Lord Justice Sir Brian Neill to be the neutral and independent body to represent and to promote civil and commercial mediation and (other dispute resolution options) as alternatives to litigation and thereby to further law reform and access to justice for the general public. The Centre started as a study group in Judicial reform in 2000 to look for a better way for citizens to resolve their disputes. As a study group it has achieved important results in a number of areas, the Cabinet Office granted the group status as the NPO association. On December 12th 2003, the NPO registration was completed.
As a pioneer of mediation in Japan, the Centre offers a mediation programme by trained mediators. It covers neighbour disputes, family disputes, disputes involving residential and nursery homes, in fact all kinds of domestic disputes. But in future it will be focusing on international field. Even now it can offer international disputes if you can take interpreter for mediation session.
JMC offer some training programmes, courses include: basic and advanced; courses for case managers (arrangement for mediation), trainers and supervisors. It threw critics into rapture for delivering training for industrial farms, charity organizations and local government.
For furtherance of international disputes, and quality of mediation enhancement, the Centre has co-operation agreements with the Academy of Experts.
