Membership Criteria


Academy practising individual members have been through a rigorous vetting procedure meaning that The Academy's members are accredited rather than merely checked.
Individual Membership - Entrance Criteria  
  • Application form completed and signed
  • A copy of the applicant’s CV or resumé
  • A professional qualification (if such exists) appropriate to the applicant’s vocation and proof of the professional body the applicant’s belongs to (if appropriate)
  • Two satisfactory references from solicitors and/or barristers (applicants are asked to submit three references, however, only two are taken up).
  • Training in expert witness work is preferable but not essential.

The Academy also offers membership in other categories:

  • Associate (for those who wish to become expert witnesses but are not sufficiently experienced to qualify for individual membership)
  • Non-Practicing (for users of Experts solicitors and barristers)
  • Corporate (for commercial organisations)

Provisional Membership - Entrance Criteria

  • Application form completed and signed
  • A copy of the applicant’s CV or resumé
  • A declaration of a desire to become an expert witness (no proof required).
  • A professional qualification (if such exists) appropriate to the applicant’s vocation.
