Coping with Lawyers


The day is based on the Mediators Tutorial - but there are differences. The central focus for the day is 'coping with lawyers in the process'. More parties are appearing at mediation represented. More lawyer mediators appear to be moving the mediation process away from the non legal service towards what looks rather like an informal arbitration. More mediators appear to be uncertain of what action they should take. The day is based upon a mediation that will last for the bulk of the day. The parties will be represented by practising lawyers and everybody will participate in the process. In addition to practical experience of 'using' the lawyers and dealing with the practical problems, there will be time for discussion on development ideas. Numbers are limited to ensure that all those attending can fully participate so early booking is recommended. This advanced course is only open to qualified mediators.
