Mediating Against the Clock

Most Court Mediations are time limited to 3 hours - and then they end. More ad hoc mediations are being time limited with the attendant problems if time runs out. The number of Court based mediations has steadily grown and starting in a few weeks time (April) is set to increase still further and faster.

We have been watching the 'success rate' of Mediators undertaking time limited mediations and it is not as good as we would expect. A number of reasons (and excuses) can be put forward for this phenomenon but we believe that with a different mindset Mediators could achieve better results in less time.

Mediating Against the Clock is a new course that has been devised for exactly this purpose. The course aims to give guidance and the 'tips and tricks' that will enable the Mediator to cope with (and even take advantage of) the additional restrictions imposed by the time limitation. Most importantly it will help to refocus on practical ways to bring the parties together quicker without high risk strategies.

This advanced course is only open to qualified mediators.
